How Do I Repair A Jbl Prx515 End Cap Bottom

  • Some fraudsters have compromised TGP accounts have in the past few days. They have scammed members in the Emporiums by creating ads with stolen photos and requesting Paypal F&F or Venmo exclusively for payment.

We take these issues seriously. Nosotros've made security changes that I don't desire to particular here to stop them. Withal, the best manner to foreclose this is for members to exercise proper countersign hygiene (which I'll detail below), turn on two-cistron authentication, and -- I implore every single person here -- only utilize payment methods that accept heir-apparent protection. Unfortunately, we cannot control how members do deals. It is heartbreaking to meet that the lure of saving some money will all the same fool people into using those methods to save a few dollars. In today's world, that is false confidence you can no longer afford.

Every business relationship that I've restored so far to the original owner was using compromised passwords. Talking to one fellow member as I am working through getting his account back in club, he informed me that his Apple password director had been compromised and made available on the dark web.

None of the accounts compromised were using two-gene authentication.

We have forced electronic mail revalidation for all members that take not signed on for a while. We highly recommend every member reading this change their passwords as a precaution. Nosotros desire to highly recommend that members plough on and utilise TGP's two-gene hallmark choice.

We take opened a discussion thread in the Pub section discussing this.We will include a very detailed password checklist.

My Country band is looking for some FOH powered speakers. I've been watching Craigslist for a while, just there'southward not a lot for sale. Someone has 2 JBL PRX515 speakers with covers for $750. I'g not familiar with this item model, and since it'south discontinued, there's not a lot of info out in that location.

We're really simply looking for a set of speakers that we can use for a twelvemonth or and then while nosotros continue to save for a really squeamish pair of FOH speakers (probably Meyers). We'd like to purchase a pair to employ and then sell them for nearly what nosotros paid when nosotros're gear up to merchandise up.

Any opinions on these JBL speakers?

Cheers.

They have been discontinued for a while. I had some 512s and still have a pair of PRX535s that my band uses. I don't know if I would pay $750.00 for some speakers that might be 10 years quondam unless they were in really good shape. The problem is you could spend a piddling more and become some new speakers that audio as good or improve. Powered speaker applied science has come up a long mode in the by 10 years and there are a lot more choices at present.

I have four PRX 512m that I use for floor wedges. They do a squeamish enough job. Not incredible. Are they still improve than powered Altos or Behringers? Heck yes. One good thing well-nigh JBL is you can get parts easily, I would say they are a better deal for $600 for the pair with covers. I'd go meet the guy make sure y'all accept a way to plug them in, or agree to meet him at your place etc. then plug them upward and mind. They are pretty lightweight which is nice.
You lot mentioned Meyer? Yous practice realize that a new pair of powered Meyer's might be $8-10,000. There are a lot of really adept choices in between.

Don't autumn for the Craigslist crazies. The local Craigslist is an absolute joke for stuff like this. People who haven't been into a music store for a decade asking new prices for stuff that is OLD.

Have a look at some of the current offerings. You can go make new powered speakers (that are probably better) for same (or similar) price.

The guy is selling them for $750 with covers for a pair. That's $325 a speaker. What new speakers are yous guys talking about that are at a similar toll point considering I'd like to check them out. New a single QSC K 12 is going to be effectually $600 new, a single JBL PRX 715 will be around $750 new, a single Yamaha DRX 12 will be around $500.

They are pretty decent boxes. 750 isn't a bad price. If they are in good shape and you could become em closer to 6, it would be a good deal. You lot should be able to get your money dorsum in a few years at that cost.

Have your morn java and check your math. That is $375.00 a speaker.:) I recently bought a Yamaha DBR12 that I haved used as a bass amp for $450.00. When I tried using one of my PRX512m speakers it would fart out a lot easier. The Yamaha as well has a 7 year warranty. I had four of the PRX512m speakers. I sold a pair with tuki speaker numberless for $700.00.

Sorry man I thought that was the price for one. My bad.

Still they are ten years old AND discontinued. I would trounce out another $250 and go the Yamaha DXR12s. seven yr warranty and sound amazing.

HAha... midway through my second loving cup, but I don't retrieve I can do math anymore without using Excel. I know you were a big fan of the PRX stuff, so I think your opinion is pretty valid.
Sorry man I thought that was the price for i. My bad.

Yep. I think it's a fair price. A lot of stuff is not moving these days so perchance he could become him down to $650? That would be hard to trounce if they are in good shape. Simply going with 12s could be ideal for moving them to monitor duty should he upgrade.

For the tape, I remember information technology's a fair price... merely I wouldn't buy them because they really wouldn't serve a purpose for me and long (short) term I'one thousand looking at a pair of PRX712s.

They're third gen at least ago for the PRX line. I had them and liked them just replaced them with PRX712s and think they sound cleaner and are lighter. I agree perhaps $600-650 is more reasonable.

Yep, they are a bargain at $600
IMO the warranty thing is nice, but a warranty doesn't exercise jack when you get to the gig and it only doesn't work.
What are yous going to do then. simply not take a speaker tell everybody in the venue that the other one is under warranty. Plus warranty service can be difficult to obtain, and can accept weeks to get fixed. They are a coupe generations agone. I have 4 of them. They are nice and lite. not overly loud. In defense of the craigslist thing. I accept gotten many really good deals from CL. Merely the primal is knowing exactly what you lot are looking at. IF it is something electronic. don't pay for it until you can check it out. And be willing to negotiate.
I have very prissy gear, and I ever bring an extra powered speaker that could serve every bit a floor wedge, Keyboard monitor, bass amp or even main if in a pinch.

I'll agree, tho - I've never seen any Meyers in a lodge.

Cheers for all of the replies. I didn't know that these were mayhap a decade old. They look to exist in good shape. He says that he'due south firm on the toll...I might allow them sit a while to come across if he comes off of that "price is firm" thing.

I practice know that in that location'due south a lot of gear between what I'grand looking at now and the Meyers. We're just looking for some decent speakers to use for now while we save for the Meyers. I don't know of anything that is significantly cheaper that sounds as adept as the Meyers.

Thanks again for your assistance.

I have done side by side comparisons with Renkus Hienz TRX series, and the Renkus Heinz were a little better in the song mid area. and they are probably $1500 a box less.

Personally I'd stay away. A friend has a pair and they've been repaired several times. Issues with thermal overload and this was inside in air conditioning. He was also having bug with the hf diver. I beloved jbl but would simply go with the 700 serial or better. That's just me

Y'all could probably find used yamaha dxr12's for$400 per speaker. Take cooling fans and are very solid. Browse guitar centre's used gear. At least y'all'd have a 30 day return policy.

  • #16
$600 for those is a crime imo. You can buy current twenty-four hours stuff for a little more (used or new). Yamaha DBR series are equally expert if not better and still have a seven year warranty. This equally bad a CL dude here trying to get $600 for 2 Mackie SRM350 Series 1 speakers. They are onetime and probably on their final leg given the years those caps on the PS take been on there. 10 years is pushing it. Many of the failures for powered speakers are switching supply failures due to stale out electrolytic caps, thermal breakdowns, solder breakdowns and fracture from transport and natural internal vibration. Some of these repairs the caps, power resistors just fall out.

Don't worry about the warranty svc center stuff either for QSC Yam. Many places repair them, simply there are non that many coming in for repairs. Swell track record thus far.

When it comes to powered speakers, regardless of brand you buy, if they fail you are out a speaker until you go it stock-still. There are no DIY fixes for them and almost are now board replacement type repairs so turnaround time is adequately quick.

Same issue with anything. Always have a backup. 1 guy recently swore by his Mackie digital mixer until it only would not kick at a gig. 120 miles from home and no backup. Total fail. He blamed the gear for the gig loss.

I ever conduct an extra medium sized powered speaker that could be used equally a floor monitor, or that I could at to the lowest degree limp by with it on 1 side every bit a main speaker,
that way I have a spare Main speaker, a spare monitor speaker, a spare keyboard monitor, an acoustic guitar amp.
